You're Exactly Where You Need to Be

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."- Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)

It's common to feel like you're falling behind in life. Like those around you, your friends and colleagues are moving, and you feel like you're not. Perhaps you had dreams and expectations that haven't materialized, and now you're wondering if you've missed your chance. But here is something I have come to realize: God has you right where you need to be

It's natural to compare your progress to others, but there is a key truth we often overlook: God's Plan for you is very unique. From Ecclesiastes 3:1, the Bible reminds us that "There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens". When it feels like your dreams are on hold, it’s important to remember that delays aren’t necessarily setbacks.

Romans 8:28 says," And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose". Even in delays and struggles, God is working things out. Everything you go through is shaping you for what is ahead. The challenges, the rejections, the tough seasons- they're all preparation for your future.

Consider the examples of David and Joseph. David was anointed to be king but had to return to shepherding, learning humility and patience. Joseph, with dreams of greatness, was betrayed, sold into slavery, and imprisoned. Yet, both of their paths—though full of setbacks —were part of a bigger picture. Your journey may not be easy, but it’s leading you to where God wants you. Trust that he is never wasting time. For instance, many look around and see others hitting milestones—marriage, promotions, dream jobs—while you might still be figuring things out. It’s easy to feel behind, but that’s the danger of comparison. Your story is unique and doesn't need to look like anyone else's. We serve an intentional God.

What can you do instead? Proverbs 3:5-6 urges us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Trusting God’s process isn’t always easy. Our minds want to control the outcome, but God’s ways are higher than ours. You must remind yourself every day that God is and always will be in control. There's no need for worry.

Trusting God's plan can feel uncertain at times, trust me, I feel that way sometimes, but it's important to remember who is in control. He doesn't change, and his words are true!
